King David was dead. The great monarch who was anointed by the prophet Samuel to rule over Israel, was no more. Under King David, the tribes of his countrymen were united and was trasformed into a formidable nation. The great and difficult task of ruling a nation was now turned over to his son Solomon.
King Solomon now established on the throne, was not lost on the overwheloming responsibility that lay before him. Whether his judgment be correct, or incorrect, would be the deciding factors that would direct his people into the favor of Yahweh's-God's blessings, or, the righteous judgment of GOD for misdeeds, and cast the nation into the frightful reality of HIS displeasure.
GOD searches the condition and earnestness of the heart, and saw in Solomon a genuine desire to lead Israel in accordance with HIS directives. In a dream, Yahweh asked Solomon to ask of HIM his heart's desire. Solomon's simple request was that GOD give him an understanding heart in order that he may discern between wise and unwise decisions.
GOD, pleased at Solomon's request to not ask for the destruction of an enemy, nor for riches for himself, nor a long life, granted unto Solomon an unparalleled wisdom in addition to wealth. Solomon would later fall into GOD's disfavor, and the kingdom united under his father David would later suffer disunity. And so, our prayer for the black community today, which can be added to, or modified by our spiritual leaders, is not a blueprint, but a prayer to suggest to our communities anyhere, to approach the altar of GOD in petition, with an earnest and sincere condition of the the heart.
"Our prayer for the black communities in America, and elsewhere, is to give us a discerning heart, so that we may bond iin a spiritual relationship with YOU, and from this union, wait upon YOU to release to us the understanding of how to treat and respect one another, Please Abba, let this understanding gush forth from the swells and depths of YOUR understanding and immerse us, fill us, show us, change us. Long life is YOURS to give. Acts that have taken and destroyed so many innocent lives in our communities, can only stop by our knowing that only YOU can remove the cankerworm and the locust of murder and violence, that is continuing to peril our homes and habitats in America and without.
This is our prayer and petition before YOUR righteous throne. Please hearken unto our voices, as did YOU in the solemn prayer of YOUR servant Solomon. Amen and Hallelujah!
We would like you to partner with us, as we endeavor to compile a book of testimonies of GOD's goodness that HE has bestowed upon you. Three-four paragraphs will be adequate. Give us a testimony from the heart! Example: A lady told me once in her testimony on a similar project, that she paid the utility bill for another lady, and prevented her from committing suicide! (true story)
Revenues from the sale of the book, "These Are Our Stories"; Our Testimonies" will be used to increase the quality of life of residents in black communities spiritually, financially, and educationally,in Chicago, and hopefully in other states as revenues will allow.
In Chicago, as black people, we don't have to sit on the back of the bus anymore. We can work in the workplace along side of anyone. We can vote. We can own property in nearly any place we can afford. A group of attendees in downtown forum in Chicago, were told by an elected official, that there were over 40 homicides in our city during the month of January 2016. With all of the great strides made by our people within the last half century, allowing black people access in the areas mentioned above, there is still a piece of the puzzle missing in terms of how we collectively respect the right to live peacefully and with mutual respect for one another.
