Call For Congressional hearings
3/12/16-
The call for a Congressional Hearing into the decades old of violence and murder that has plagued black communties across America,is several weeks old now. The petitions being circulated in Chicago asking for this legislative forum has sparked a genuine interest into this issue, and more importantly, has generated conversation and discourse and HOPE among the people- all races and classes, young and old, educated or not, skilled and unskilled.
Just this week, there were twenty shootings in Chicago in 20-21 hours, and we are at a hundred homicides so far in 2016.Yesterday, there was a standoff with a person who ultimately shot others and then committed suicide. While petitioning for the Congressional Hearing, it has become commonplace for me to be informed by the public of their knowledge of attempted and carried out suicides.
Regarding solutions to violence, crime, and suicidal behaviors in America's black communties, it is not enough for anyone to say, that we are working on it and the matter is being handled. The people have to KNOW, because even such a small token remedy as their petition signature endorsements, creates in their minds some measure of HOPE, and sustains the belief, that YAHWEH-GOD has not abandoned us.
The call for a Congressional Hearing into the forenoted matters, is as rooted in biblical justification, as is the Judeo-Christian foundation upon which America rests, as well as a moral underpinning.
( spiritually speaking)
("Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16, KJV);
Congress and the American public, should work on this issue together as a combined duty, as attention to this matter is being scrutinized by the ever-watching eye of GOD.
( a moral perspective)
(" For when the Gentiles, which have not law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves. ( Romans 2:14, KJV) red highlighting mine.
( "Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else or else excusing one another. Romans 2:15", KJV) red highlighting mine.
What is being pointed out by the Apostle Paul at this time in history, in these two verses, is those persons not coming under the covenant of GOD via Abraham and the subsequent giving of the Law or Torah given to Moses, though they be not covenanted (at the time of this writing, do by nature, i.e., by an inherent sense of right and wrong, what they perceive to be as morally correct.
The issue restated:
Watergate was given a Congressional Hearing and captured various media coverage at length, and no lives were lost.
In one age group alone, in Chicago alone, for 2015- one year alone , there were over 100 homicides of black males. From just a moral perspective, should Congress hold a Congressional Hearing into past and present violence, murder, and now suicides that has and is inflltrating America's black communities? The issue is one of fairness and caring.
